Dex – Keyboards
Jeffrey “Dex” McFerson is an analog synthesist and trombonist. He has played synths in Northern Labour Party, an original post-punk band, for nearly 20 years. He cites his primary synth influences for this band as Magazine, Numan, and Japan. In the late 90’s and early 2000’s, Dex played synths and organ in the dream pop band The Arrogants, where he learned to weave analog synthetic tones into a genre which typically didn’t feature such sonic treatment.
Dex got his start playing trombone in the 90’s Orange County, CA ska scene with the bands Lone Raspberry, Aquabats, The Dynamics, and Kingston 10. He still plays trombone and keyboard in the band GOGO13, along with occasional performances with his former ska mates.
As a member of Tin Drum, Dex passionately attempts to recreate Japan’s unique and original sound with absolute respect and reverence.
